If our kids are drawn to climbing or summer mountaineering, the Salewa Wildfire 2 PTX Approach Shoe will help them scale any obstacles in their way. The Wildfire blends elements of a hiking shoe with more climb-oriented features, such as climbing laces that extend to the toes, a protective rubber rand that also adds some edging capabilities, and Pomoca rubber outsoles that mix hike-oriented tread with climb-oriented sticky rubber to help them work their way up the mountain to the base of the climbing route. The PTX adds a PowerTex waterproof membrane to add some weather protection for soggy trails, damp days, and wet weather.
