Introducing the PS-31 Binocular Night Vision Device (BNVD), a compact and lightweight dual-tube goggle designed to replace the legacy PS-15. Among dual-tube night vision goggles, the PS-31 stands out as one of the smallest and lightest units available. Equipped with high-performance Gen 3 image intensifier tubes made in the USA, the PS-31 was developed in direct collaboration with U.S. operators to enhance system resolution, significantly reduce head-borne weight, improve center of gravity and provide greater operational versatility and situational awareness. Featuring a 50 degree field of view for maximum visibility in the field, these auto-gain capable tubes adjust image brightness dynamically based on ground conditions. The PS-31 BNVD includes independently pivoting tube housings, allowing operators to use the goggles in either binocular or monocular configurations. Utilizing both tubes enhances depth perception and facilitates maneuvering through diverse terrains and obstacles, as well as operating control panels and door knobs. Meanwhile, switching to a monocular setup offers seamless transitions between varying battlefield lighting conditions and the use of weapon-mounted optics. The ability to pivot the tube housings flush against the helmet surface when stowed reduces profile, enhancing operator safety and equipment longevity.
